Based on all your feedback its gonna be a two week contest, so there will be 2 new challenges every month.
Please comment on this journal with a link to your entry.
every entry is accepted as long as its based on the original image.
That includes traditional and digital sketches and paintings, manipulations, photography and stock
why not shake it up and use a different medium. If you are a stocker try sketching, if you are a painter why not try manipulating
Prizes
There will be two prizes,  my personal favourite, and the other will be a public vote.
I will add all the entries into a poll and you guys can vote.

I narrowed it down to my ten favourites, some stood out for their use of space, as BrentOGara says "extending the canvas beyond the original image" or for the level of detail, originality and skill put into it.

Stood out straight away, a very original take. I like the surreal, almost alien feel.
Yet it is done in a very subtle way you don't even notice the little textures and details
Also kind of reminds me of a Elderling.
